Notes:
A key finding occured with the discovery of Rev. Jeremiah Vardeman.
Vardeman is the spouse of Elizabeth James, a 3rd great grand aunt of mine.
Jesse & Frank's father, Robert Sallee James,
graduated Georgetown College in Kentucky in 1843.
Another James also graduated in the same class. His name is John James.
John James is the brother of Elizabeth, who married Jeremiah Vardeman.
Georgetown College identifies the two graduating James as brothers.
But neither the Beamis or Steele books mentions our John James.
Nor does our family record mention Robert Sallee James.
Both graduates have a father named John M. James.
A few years later Robert Sallee James became a trustee of Wm. Jewell College
in Missouri. The question is, how?
Research at William Jewell College revealed nothing.
However, research at The Partee Center for Baptist Studies,
revealed Rev. Jeremiah Vardeman gave $20,000 to Robert Sallee James,
enabling him to become a founding trustee.
Vardeman is the founder of the Schools of Theology,
at Georgetown College in Kentucky & William Jewell College in Missouri.
When researching other William Jewell founders,
all were shown to be socially related or actual relations of the James.
William C. Ligon - Virginia neighbor
Randolph R. Craig - Rev. Elijah Craig & Travelling Church with John M. James.
William Carson - Ransom Carson built James churches and home.
William D. Hubbel - an in-law.
Edward Madison Samuels, Reuben Samuels half brother.
Tobert Thomas, first president, baptised by Vardeman in John M. James' church..
