My mother is Lithuanian. She and my grandmother spoke the language every day. My father never talked much, though. I asked him once what he was. He mumbled something about French, German, & Welsh, but he didn't make any sense of it.
I knew little about my father. He wasn't around much. He left our home when I was three. My sister and I saw him occasionally since. When he died I learned from my cousins that he saw them frequently. In fact he put one counsin in charge of his funeral arrangements. My father told my cousins all about our James family in Indiana and Kentucky. He even took some to Indiana and showed them our history. He told them what he never told his own children.
